HAARLEM - De judoka's van Kenamju hebben zich overtuigend geplaatst voor de finale ronde van de europacup. In een uitverkochte Kennemersporthal werd het 14-0 in het voordeel van Kenamju.
Na de wedstrijd tussen Izmir(TUR) en JC Boras (ZWE) die eindigde in 10-4 in het voordeel van de Zweden, begon het echte werk. Nadat het publiek was opgewarmd door Robbie Ronalds kon het echte werk beginnen. Ruben Houkes moest in de eerste wedstrijd tegen de nr 3 van het laatste WK, John Buchanen en deed dit uitstekend. Met ippon werd de Brit verslagen.
James Warren was snel klaar met zijn partij en won met ippon. Dennis Meijer in de klasse -73 kg deed niet voor de Engelsman onder en won met een snelle Uchi Mata Ippon.
Guillaume Elmont (-81kg) won met yuko en Thierry Mastenbroek was met Wazari te sterk voor zijn tegenstander.
De gebroeders van der Geest deden waar ze goed in zijn, winnen met ippon.
In de 2e wedstrijd ging het minder soepel maar werden wel alle partijen gewonnen. James Warren, Koen van Nol en Dennis van der Geest wisten hun partij met ippon te winnen.
